Shoes

Do you know how and where the most amazing shoes in the world are made? Naturally, they are handcrafted in Estonia as the result of a joint effort between our outstanding designers and master shoemakers with decades of experience. The art of shoemaking is slowly disappearing, as it is much easier and cheaper to let machines do all the work. While there is still a generation that can pass on the traditional shoemaking skills, it may not be so for long. That is why we strive every day to preserve these age-old techniques. Our shoes are made using traditional shoemaking methods. The upper and the sole are joined by stitching, which makes the shoes more durable and also repairable. We add a pinch of magic to every pair – and the result is shoes that you simply won’t want to take off once you put them on :)

In street fashion, comfort has become increasingly important, and women wearing high heels have almost vanished from the streets. High heels have been replaced by comfortable and stylish flat shoes that look fantastic and don’t tire your feet. Kuutsid shoes are the kind of footwear that complement your outfit perfectly – whether it’s a smart office look, where their simplicity and neatness add the finishing touch, or an evening at the theatre, where they add a splash of colour to a more relaxed outfit. You’ll find these cheerful and mood-lifting shoes in our collections.

In the homely, warm and natural OmaKing collection, you’ll find our cool Kuutsid shoes, inspired by the simplicity and closeness to nature of slippers. These are shoes with a simple cut and made of pleasant materials, in which you’ll always feel both comfortable and stylish. By pleasant materials, we primarily mean soft leather. Leather is such a great material because it naturally adapts to the exact shape of each wearer’s foot. We purchase our leather from carefully selected European manufacturers with whom we’ve collaborated for decades. From a sustainability standpoint, it’s also worth noting that all leather used by European tanneries is a by-product of the food industry. This means that no animals are raised solely for their hides – they are still primarily bred for meat. Without the leather industry, animal hides would simply go to waste. Another important quality of leather is its exceptional durability, which is why shoes made of good leather will serve their wearer for many years.

But why the name Kuutsid? Kuutsi is a lovely little village in Võru County, South Estonia, that deserves to be more than just a small dot on the map. When our comfortable shoes find wearers beyond Estonia’s borders, they become ambassadors of Estonia abroad – promoting our unique design, durable quality, and ultimately the entire Estonian spirit.

In the TOKU collection, design-conscious and active people will find comfortable shoes with a Nordic touch. While many of our products carry the names of small villages in Võru County, all TOKU models are named after major cities such as Helsinki, Berlin, Tokyo, and Kyoto – and that’s no coincidence. Each of these cities has inspired the creation of these fashionable shoes, drawing from their unique atmosphere and style.

TOKU is like the younger sibling of OmaKing. TOKU learns from OmaKing’s traditions and experience, taking with it all the valuable knowledge needed to create TOKU products that are just as high-quality and durable as OmaKing footwear. At the same time, TOKU brings innovation, excitement, and freshness into the design, keeping our craftsmen constantly evolving to become even better shoemakers.

With TOKU’s shoes, which combine clean lines with playful details, it’s a pleasure to stroll through city streets, attend festivals, and explore new sights – both in our beloved homeland and in fascinating cities around the world.

As with all our products, we strive for sustainability with TOKU shoes as well. We use as few different materials as possible – leather is used for both the upper and lining, the sole is made from soft EVA rubber, and the insole consists of airy coconut fibre covered with natural cork. The materials are chosen to be as natural as possible, without compromising on quality. Our shoes are durable and will serve you for a long, long time – as long as you take a little care of them yourself ;)

Just between us, the models displayed on the shoe shelf above are far from the only ones. Keep an eye on this product category or follow us on social media – new and exciting shoe models are sure to appear here soon.
